Meet the Team
Joey Collins, Lead Artist 2016
Joey Collins, a stage actor, has been in Broadway companies, Off-Broadway companies, and performed all over North America. On Broadway with Jessica Lange in The Glass Menagerie, Off-Broadway directed by Moisès Kaufman, Austin Pendleton, and Carl Forsman among others. He has been in world premieres by playwrights Theresa Rebeck, Anthony Giardina, Mark St. Germain, Nick Giandello and Jack Kerouac. As a teaching artist, his specialties are Effort/Shape movement technique, Meisner Technique, new play development, theater devising and creation, non-traditional monologues, directing and writing. Shawn Shafner, Lead Educator 2016
Shawn Shafner is an artist, educator, activist and founder of The People’s Own Organic Power Project. His latest show, An Inconvenient Poop, was a Time Out NY Critic’s Pick and garnered Shawn the 2015 award for Overall Excellence in Solo Performance from the New York International Fringe Festival. He enjoys creating projects that encourage socialization among strangers, including The Clap (with Laura Silver), a tashlich art walk for Elastic City (with Amichai Lau-Lavie), and Latch/Attach for the World Policy Institute, Fourth Arts Block and Cooper Union. Shawn was a 2014-15 LABA Fellow, 2014-15 iLAND resident in collaboration with LMCC, and last year joined the Charles and Lynn Schusterman’s ROI Community.
Terry Greiss, Executive Director, Irondale Ensemble Project
Terry has been working in the theater for more than 30 years. He has conducted hundreds of workshops and professional training programs. He was the Founding President of the Network of Ensemble Theaters, a national consortium of artist-driven permanent theater ensembles. He has taught all over the world, in addition to his role as co-founder, actor, and Executive Director of the Irondale Ensemble Project.
Elena Dufner, Program Manager, Just Act NYC
Elena has been working with Jewish teens in educational and experiential settings for 10 years, at summer camp, in synagogues, and everywhere in between. When not working on Just Act NYC, she manages communications for the Union for Reform Judaism’s youth programs. With Just Act NYC, Elena is combining her love for the stage with her passion for helping all teens find the place that makes me them feel most confident.
